Hiking to Franklin Falls
We went on a "family friendly" hike, which, according to the book and internet, was easy for little kids with a mild incline up towards the waterfalls. So we went for it, and had a great time, though it was much longer and steeper than we expected. Lily did great and hiked for over two miles by herself, but by the end needed a little piggy back ride from mommy, who wished she had brought a crane to hoist up her belly and all those stretched out ligaments! And I'm not even that big yet (compared to how I can get by the end)...

Little Buddies
Lily and Jonathan are really good pals now. They do everything together-Lily kindly shares her bike, and, with less enthusiasm, her sacred cooking stool. She's learning, though, that while Jonathan wants to help cook, he's really more interested in showing us how he can climb back down, and back up, and back down, and so on. Still, it is a sacrifice for her to share the stool, and we are pleased with the results. Tonight we put Lily to bed and Jonathan got in with her. They laid there together, fake sleeping and laughing, and when it was finally time to end the fun, they cried as we carried Jonathan away, clinging to each other hands. It was pretty cute, but even so Lily couldn't convince us to let him sleep in her room. Not yet. Not until December.

Halfway There!
We had our 20 week ultrasound and are thrilled to have a very healthy boy on the way. He's doing great, and we've named him Ryle Henry. Can't wait to meet him.

Fourth of July!
We spent the morning shopping at Redmond Town Center (Luke adores REI), and had a yummy dinner of good old fried chicken. While we were eating Lily said, "I'm loving this dinner!" We then kept the kids up way past bedtime and went to downtown Bellevue for fireworks (along with sixty thousand other people). Let me say that the small town fireworks I grew up with were small potatoes compared with this! Of course it was rather loud for the kids, but we think they enjoyed it anyway! Happy Fourth to everyone!

Lilyisms...
OLIVE GARDEN
"Why are the girls wearing ties?"
"Can I have some more bread fingers?"
And then, after the server left, and we were waiting for our food,
[Indignantly] "Where did that lady go? She said she'd take care of us!"
HOLY POLICEMEN?
"Jonathan, stay in your car seat! If you get out, it's against the Lord!"

The last two projects!
We finished our last two projects-Jonathan's room and the master bath. We left both rooms for last because of the hideous wallpaper...so, after a few days of removal, new texture, and lots of paint, it's much better. Jonathan's room is a nice linen color and the bathroom is actually a very light green. And now it's time to pack! Both grandmas come next week to help so the push is on...

In other news
Here's the 3D pic of our baby at 12 weeks. Yippee! The baby was very photogenic and kicked his legs quite vigorously. We saw the four chambers of the heart, the kidneys, the brain, and ten fingers. It was wonderful-God is so good. Incidentally, we also saw something sticking out that looked "quite substantial" (according to the tech) so we think it's a boy, although we'll find out for sure in two months.

Home Remodel
Here's what we've been up to on and off for the last six months or so. We're in progress in one of the bedrooms, but we're planning to be all done before we move at the end of June. Yippee!

In case you're wondering
Yes, that little ticker to the right of here means that a third baby will join us in the first week of December or so. We know two things: there is going to be a difficult explanation to Lily if it turns out, contrary to her expectations, that it's a boy, and second, we're going to really score on our 2008 tax return.

Lilyisms, plus one
Let's just say we've been dealing with Lily freaking out if Jonathan, who's now asserting himself, takes any of her "stuff."
Lily: Jonathan! You can't have that! It's a desecration!
Mom (thinking, this is rather advanced logic for a 3 yr old): It's a what?
Lily: A desecration! You know, just to look at and not to touch!
Mom: Ah, you mean, a decoration?
Lily: YES!
---
Lily: I don't like daddy's kisses very much.
Mom: Why not? I like his kisses.
Lily: Well, I just don't like those prickly weeds, you know?
---
On the day of Jonathan's birthday
Mom: Jonathan, stop fussing.
Lily: Why does he fuss so much?
Mom: I don't know, I never know what he wants.
Lily: I think, I think, that if he could just have one little taste of cake, then he would be happy forever!
